ARSOFT presents LAIA XR at the II Digital Health Conference: AI revolutionizing 3D surgical planning
On October 29, the CaixaForum Zaragoza hosted the II Digital Health and Technology Conference for Healthcare Professionals, an event organized by the General Directorate of Digital Health and Infrastructures of the Aragón Health Department. The conference brought together experts from clinical, technological, and institutional backgrounds with a shared goal: exploring how artificial intelligence and digitalization are transforming healthcare.
Representing ARSOFT, Óscar Alonso Plaza, Product Director and Healthcare Lead, participated in the expert panel titled “AI: Transforming the Way We Care for Health.” He focused on how Visual Intelligence and the LAIA XR platform are changing the way surgeons plan operations.
Through interactive 3D patient models, surgeons can examine anatomy in unprecedented detail. “They can view, rotate, zoom in, and analyze each structure before entering the operating room,” Alonso explained. “This allows them to rehearse surgical approaches, anticipate risks, and make decisions with greater confidence.”
The outcome is more precise, safer, and more efficient medical care.
Visual Intelligence: seeing beyond images
Alonso highlighted that medicine is entering a new era where seeing is not just looking at an image but understanding and interacting with it in 3D. In this context, LAIA XR represents a natural evolution: it combines artificial intelligence with immersive visualization to give healthcare professionals a complete understanding of each case before surgery.
The models are generated from imaging studies such as CT scans or MRIs, allowing physicians to view anatomy from any angle. “Our goal is to put technology at the service of medical judgment, not the other way around,” Alonso emphasized. “We want professionals to have a tool that adapts to them, not one they have to adapt to.”

Discussing the real impact of AI in healthcare
The panel also included Jorge Oliva Hidalgo, Head of Systems at Hospital San Juan de Dios de Zaragoza; Jorge Juan Alamán, Business Development at Legit Health; and Edemira Merino Rubio, Product Engineer at Ibernex.
Throughout the discussion, they explored how AI, clinical data, and technology are shaping a more predictive and personalized healthcare model. They all agreed on one thing: innovation must support healthcare professionals and enhance the patient experience.
“Technology only makes sense when it helps doctors become better, not when it replaces them,” Alonso stated. “That balance is key for responsible digital transformation.”
Toward smarter, safer, and more precise medicine
ARSOFT’s participation in the conference underscores its commitment to visual and intelligent medicine, where technology enhances medical expertise rather than competing with it.
With LAIA XR, doctors don’t just interpret images—they interact with them, understanding every anatomical detail and possible scenario before surgery. This leads to safer procedures, better team communication, and ultimately greater patient confidence. Solutions like LAIA XR make digital health a tangible reality: a practical tool in the operating room that demonstrates how innovation, designed with people in mind, can truly transform medicine
