Recognized for the project “LAIA XR: Technology for Surgical Planning with Artificial Intelligence.” The Salamanca-based tech company developed it with support from the University of Salamanca research group.

The company ARSOFT and VisualMed System have won at the 2026 Ennova Health Awards. VisualMed System is a Recognized Research Group at the University of Salamanca (USAL). Specifically, they won in the AI and Data Management category. Furthermore, the awards are an initiative of Diario Médico and Correo Farmacéutico. They received the award on October 1 in Madrid. It recognizes the project “LAIA XR: Technology for Surgical Planning with Artificial Intelligence.” ARSOFT developed this project with the support of the USAL research group.

The Award-Winning Project

At the heart of the project is LAIA XR, a healthcare software platform developed by ARSOFT. Its purpose is to facilitate the visualization and analysis of medical information in three dimensions. To this end, the solution uses Computed Tomography (CT) and Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) scans. Then, it generates three-dimensional models from these images. As a result, healthcare professionals can study complex anatomies and prepare for surgical planning.

Recognized in AI and Data Management for Their Work in Medical Imaging

Moreover, the recognition in this category is linked to research that ARSOFT is developing in parallel. This research focuses on applying Artificial Intelligence to medical image processing. In particular, it aims to facilitate the transformation and analysis of information from CT studies. Currently, ARSOFT is working on the development and certification of these features. Its goal is to bring them to the healthcare market in the near future.

Statements from ARSOFT’s CEO Following the Award

“This award recognizes the work behind LAIA XR,” says Santiago González Izard, CEO and founder of ARSOFT. “Above all, it recognizes our commitment to developing our own technology. We want this technology to meet the specific needs of healthcare professionals. In fact, innovation has value when it turns complex technologies into useful tools for the people who use them.”

What This Award Means

Beyond LAIA XR, the award also recognizes ARSOFT’s track record. Specifically, this includes its work developing Augmented Reality, Virtual Reality, and Mixed Reality technologies. It also highlights the company’s evolution toward specialized applications in the healthcare sector.

With this 2026 Ennova Health Award, ARSOFT and VisualMed System strengthen their collaboration in 3D medical visualization. At the same time, ARSOFT reinforces its commitment to research in Artificial Intelligence and medical image processing. In this way, the company is moving toward new ways of working with clinical information. Finally, it is finding new ways to support medical planning and training.
